Fab follower of the Week

WOW!!!  Another great honour when I opened my inbox this morning.  I have been nominated as Fab follower of the week on Shelly's Images and this is what they have to say:

"Can I tell you what I love about our blog (and blogging in general)?

We get the chance to meet people from all over the world.

And today we get to meet this week's Fab Follower Debbie Harris who hails from Cape Town, South Africa and is the owner of the DKH Designs blog.

If you haven't been to Debbie's blog, be sure to check it out because she makes some of the cutest cards - just looking through her creations has inspired me to use a few things that I've had sitting in my studio for a bit!

Heck, you could even use a stop at her blog as a Geography lesson.....Yep, back to school!

Congrats Debbie for being this week's Fab Follower of the week at Shelly's Images!!

We are so glad to have you!"

Thanks so much Shelly and Min for such an awesome surprise!!!

Please hop on over to Shelly's Images and have a look at her beautiful digistamps.

Here are some photo's that I took yesterday - Spring Day in our garden.  As you can see from the raindrops on the flowers we had a cold wet day.

The weekend is almost here, hope you manage to get some quiet time to do some stamping and creating!

I am so enthusiastic after receiving my award I just want to go into my office and create but as I have been without a car for 2 days have so many things to catch up on today.  Have a happy day and if you are in Cape Town - keep warm!

I've been published

I've been spring cleaning (or should that be autumn?) with the focus on paper - clearing out the filing cabinet, sorting magazines etc and as a result there is plenty of recycling. A while ago I was asked for a list of the times that I have been published and I did not have one. So as I am sorting through magazines I am taking photos of my work published, am making a list and will share these with you

In the September/October 2009 issue of Craftwise three projects appeared:

We are celebrating another long weekend in South Africa which is fabulous!Hope you have a great weekend! I am feeling very satisfied with my decluttering, what a wonderful feeling!

Moo's - Music

This is a Moo that I made for a swap of 21 Moo's last year. I used an old music sheet as a background and sprayed it with Glitz Spritz and mounted it onto the main black cardstock. The dancing couple is an unmounted red rubber stamp from Frantic stamper, stamped in Brilliance black onto lilac card and the edges are sponged with the same ink. To finish off I have used black polka dot ribbon and a small mulberry paper flower.

This Moo was published in Craftwise Sept/Oct 2009 edition.

I've been published

Thank you so much for leaving comments on my blog and also e-mailing me privately. Your feedback is much appreciated as I strive to make my blog interesting and inspirational!!!

Last year I hosted 2 swaps that have both had some of the artworks published in our local Craftwise magazine. I always get the participants to make an extra card, tag etc and I send it into the mag. My thinking behind this is that it encourages our craft to grow in South Africa and is also a good advert for our local manufacturers who will hopefully continue to produce new stamps for us every year.

It is difficult to take photo's of glossy magazines in good light without reflection, and the colour quality was not that great in this Nov/Dec issue so I apologise for the poor photos.

The top one is the Luscious Lime ATC swap. Nine of the nineteen cards were published, mine is the second one from the left in the bottom row (with a Craft Inidividuals butterfly image).

The second photo is of the Altered Embroidery tag swap, 10 of the tags were published and the completed booklet. My tag is the cover of the booklet with a Craft Individuals image of a girls face in pink and lilac with micro beads and ribbon.
Have a great day!

Guest Designer on Digital Two for Tuesday

I am thrilled to be Guest Designer on the Digital Two for Tuesday blog http://digitaltuesday.blogspot.com/ this week. Here you can download Cora's free digital images.

This is the first card I completed, the second card will be up later in the week. I have coloured the vintage fairy image with Aquarelle pencils blended with a Dove blender and her crown is embellished with self adhesive pearls. The background and the edges of all the layers have been sponged with Distress Ink Antique Linen using Inkssentials Ink blending tool. The image is mounted onto dark turquoise card and then onto a layer of scrapbook paper and then matted onto another layer of the dark turquoise and finally onto a beige folded card. The card is finished off with turquoise lace and a paper flower that I have embellished with pearls as shown in the photo.

I've been published

Hope you had a great weekend! Winter returned to Cape Town and we had 50mm of rain, hopefully there will be no water restrictions this summer.

I am pleased that 2 of my recent swaps have been published in the Nov/Dec 2009 Craftwise Magazine. The Luscious Lime ATC is pictured above. The stamp is a Crafty Individuals one and I have used Nesties and a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the card.

The other item published is my Altered Embroidery Bobbin, I posted pictures of the swap here:
